Seems like even the extra K couldn’t help the movie from sinking like a Titanic. Gautham Menon’s remake of his own Tamil blockbuster (Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa), packaged with Prateik biceps and Amy Jackson’s tanned avatar seemed to have not gone down well with the critics. Ekk Deewana Tha is being slapped with a mere 2 stars from pretty much all the critics, and not even Rahman’s catchy tunes of Hosanna and Aaromale could lift it up. Here is what the critics are saying about Ekk Deewana Tha.
Avijit Ghosh, TimesOfIndia: Rating: 3 Stars/ 5
Ekk Deewana Tha has its moments but it doesn’t really put you in the mood for love.
Goher Iqbal Punn: Rating: 1.5 Stars / 5
In a nutshell, Ekk Deewana Tha is lackluster. It does not have potential to spell magic with the viewers.
Anupama Chopra: Rating: 2 Stars / 5
Ekk Deewana Tha requires enormous patience and a healthy appetite for love stories. If you possess either, check it out.
Manisha Lakhe, FilmOrbit: Rating: 5 Axes (?)
..this slow-paced, never ending disaster of a movie simply annoys you.
Preeti Arora, Rediff: Rating: 1 Star / 5
Somewhere, something obviously got lost in translation.
Komal Nahata, KoiMoi: Rating: 1 Star / 5
On the whole, Ekk Deewana Tha is a poor show devoid of entertainment value.
Taran Adarsh, BollywoodHungama: Rating: 2 Stars / 5
On the whole, EKK DEEWANA THA has a few sparkling moments, that’s about it. However, it lacks the fizz for the spectator to go deewana!
Kunal Guha, Yahoo Movies: Rating: Minus Ek
Multiplex mein itni movies hain, phir maine iss movie ka ticket hi kyun liya?
Dainik Bhaskar: Rating: 2 Stars / 5
Girls, who can endure anything for a feel good factor to see a guy madly in love with a girl, can too grab a ticket. Overall, Ek Deewana Tha entertains sporadically.
