Director Karan malhotra’s directorial debut – Agneepath, is a remake of the 1990 revenge classic Agneepath, starring Amitabh Bachchan in an unforgettable role. With Hrithik Roshan in the shoes of Vijay Dinanath Chauhan, and Sanjay Dutt playing a more evil Kancha (by the looks of that pierced eyebrow and shaved head, and that sinister grin) – the stakes are high. B-town has been pouring down heavy words of praises with tweets (that’s what they do these days). And with the movie hitting cinemas today, the critics have released their reviews as well. So did the Agneepath remake pass the test?

Rajeev Masand, IBN Live – 3 Stars / 5
It is in the end, an old-fashioned revenge drama treated in that melodramatic, over-the-top style.
Anupama Chopra – 2.5 Stars / 5
I really wanted to like Agneepath more. See it for Hrithik Roshan.
NDTV, Piyali Dasgupta – 3.5 Stars / 5
Comparisons are damned. This *is* the new Agneepath.
To me, that’s exactly how Agneepath works, less of a remake, more of a tribute. They should have just called it Dharmapath.
Agneepath has the fire for a lustrous entertainer!
On the whole, Agneepath totally rests on star power which will lure the cine-goers to halls but how far will it impress them remains to be seen.
Devoid of fluff, the hyperbole toned down, and shorter, Agneepath would have been a far superior film.
Agneepath will shake the box-office today (Republic Day) and in the first weekend. Watch it for so many reasons but be prepared for gore and violence… plenty of it!
BollywoodHungama, Taran Adarsh – 4.5 Stars / 5
AGNEEPATH is a fitting tribute to the masterwork
BollySpice, Prateeksha Khot – 3.5 Stars / 5
Go watch this movie for nostalgia and some really great performances to come out of the actors.

Agneepath is a good film that could have been better.
