Which Is a Better Brand for Smartphones: OPPO or Huawei?

Two Chinese companies are vying to gain market share in the smartphone arena and these are Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. and Guangdong OPPO Mobile Telecommunications Corp. Huawei is older established in 1987 by Ren Zhengfei and headquartered in Shenzhen, Guangdong. OPPO, on the other hand, was founded by Tony Chen in 2001 and has headquarters in Dongguan, Guangdong. As both are vying for the market share, let’s compare oppovs Huawei to see which is better, but whichever brand you opt for, you can just place your order online and get your choice of phone home-delivered through eCommerce courier companies.

OPPO vs Huawei: Who Manufactures More Smartphones?

It’s the BBK Electronics Corporation that markets all smartphones under the brands, OPPO, Vivo, Realme and OnePlus brands. In the first quarter of 2017 itself, it shipped 56.7 million smartphones, taking over both Huawei and Apple and became the 2nd largest smartphone manufacturer in the world. It is still standing strong at that spot just behind Samsung which is maintaining its number one position.

Huawei has been trying all these years to take this number two spot and tried expanding itself to Asian and European markets. It could have been successful too, but for its ban in the US markets.

Which Brand’s Phone to Buy?

You should not decide on buying the phone just based on the company’s name. It’s the specifications offered on a particular model and in particular price range that one should compare to arrive at the decision. For example, let’s compare both these brands on their latest phones

OPPO’s launched its new Reno flagship phone series which comes in varying price range based on its power and performance. OPPO’s Reno 10x Zoom is competing with Huawei’s P30 Pro.

In terms of basic specs, and performance both are almost at par with each having an edge on the other in some areas. However, when it comes to pricing then OPPO takes away all limelight. It’s Reno 10x Zoom 256GB starts at £699, which is way less than Huawei’s P30 Pro which is priced at £999 for the 256GB model.

So, in this particular case as you are getting almost the same features and performance in both the models, it makes complete sense to go with Reno 10x Zoom and save money which is quite significant too.

If you go through the various models offered by these two brands you will find that in the under the10k INR segment, OPPO has better offerings. It provides these under RealMe 1.However, if you are looking for above 15K or 20K INR category then the Huawei phones are better than OPPO models. They come with a better camera, processor, and many other features.

The other difference between these two manufacturers that matters to some of the buyers is that Huawei uses its self-manufactured processors and hardware. OPPO, on the other hand, buys it from other companies and do only the assembly at its manufacturing unit.

The right way to compare OPPO vs Huawei would be to focus on the models that you are looking to buy. In that too, to have a fair comparison, you will have to compare the models in the same price category. You can’t make the comparison between apples from one company to oranges from the other.
